For many people, the Internet has grown to become a basic need. Can anyone imagine society without the need of it? It is too tough to think about. Things that have died out might still be here, things that exist might never ever have been invented if it was not for the web.

Many people use the Internet for keeping in touch with relatives, to shop online, playing video games and so on. When it comes to learning, and the sharing of information, the net has totally changed the foreign language learning process. There are countless languages that you can learn: from French to Thai and Arabic to Russian. The Internet is fast becoming fundamental for learning foreign languages.

Everyone can utilize the Internet in countless ways to help learn a language. There are a lot of translating tools. Years ago, these online translation services tended to be glitchy. Many learners seeking an easy way out of homework would use translation services only for them to unknowingly return bad translations. Translating tools have improved a lot – especially for translating languages into English. You may even be able to hear your translation in the language. Translation tools may also offer translation of webpages with web browser toolbars. The art for using an online translator is not to expect too much. Sure it will be able to translate isolated words, sentences and even whole pieces of prose. But the accuracy rate lowers as the word count goes up. So much about writing and speaking is in the pragmatics – the intention of your words, no their literal meaning. Automated translation services cannot pick up on this meaning so you should check for this carefully.

Apart from online translators, there are loads of resources on the Internet. Whether you are only learning the basics or an advanced learner, there’s definitely going to be some online tasks for you to complete. Numerous online language resources also feature really fun online flash games which often make learning a foreign language entertaining. A dictionary is a good technique to master vocabulary (the harder it is to learn a word, the more hard work you invest results in an increased chance of you remembering a word for later use), unfortunately they can be also fairly expensive. A lot of language resources include free online dictionaries that work effectively. They’re often quicker when compared to looking through dictionaries (similarly, some language dictionaries may not be organized in alphabetical order like English versions).

Moreover, exposing yourself to the language that you’re learning as much as possible is a fantastic technique for picking up a small number of words here and there. The web’s love of everything media lends itself well to learning languages – why don’t you watch a foreign television show, download music from bands from a different country or read a foreign language news website (or attempt to!). This is really enjoyable!

The evolution of the web’s second coming (web 2.0) is all about social interaction with and/or by the Internet. Social networks dominate Internet usage and user numbers continue to increase everyday. Advances in technology means people can now access the Internet from our cell phone. So, why not seek out a people who may also be learning your language – or better yet find people who are native speakers? Maybe you can teach them English and they can offer some help in return. There are plenty of social networks specifically for foreign language learning.

Last but not least, use the Internet to organize your learning and time more effectively. Some text books are great but others can get confusing. Making use of the Internet you can take charge of your studying and be better organized to facilitate effective and easy learning. You can sign up for social book marking networks that will allow you to bookmark your favorite online language resources so you can access them from any where and at any time. No matter where you are, if you can access the net you will be able to spend a couple of minutes learning. The more exposure you have to the language the quicker you will pick up vocabulary and grammar rules. You can also use a customised homepage that will also allow you to bookmark favorite language learning resources and websites in one place.

This is not to say that traditional methods of learning a language are redundant. Attending classes, working from text books and doing self- study are still important to learning languages. However, the net offers a richer and more varied approach to language learning. Having access to multimedia resources such as videos, online dictionaries and even classes means language learning is more fun which in turn means people will hopefully learn faster.

The year 2012 witnessed a rapid growth in the e-learning methodology. In fact open education too is gaining precedence and is now considered to be much more efficient and result oriented as compared to the traditional methodology. Financial limitations have been a deterrent for many people seeking education and for these people open education comes as a blessing. Open education is not as costly as the conventional campus based training. In some cases it is also imparted free of cost. Well known universities like Harvard, MIT, Berkeley and others now offering affordable or even free courses.

All these universities have teamed up to form the edX.

Universities like Stanford, Duke, Princeton, Hopkins, Johns, Caltech and others too offer open education. Open education can be counted amongst one of the greatest changes in education systems since the invention of the printing press. However a large number of people still prefer to opt for traditional campus education as they are restricted by social and cultural norms.

Open education does not follow the conventional merit-degree system like the campus universities. However there are some universities like the Open University in UK which offer conventional degrees. Most open education sources do provide the students with their own form of certificate. As open education is being accepted widely and gaining popularity these certificates are gaining a lot of importance and are at times considered equal in academic value to merit degrees. Majority of the open universities are able to provide standardized testing, thus making them eligible for traditional degrees & credentials.

In a bid to overcome the restriction of not being able to experience the social aspects of learning which are a part of traditional campus education there has been a noticeable rise in people who form study groups, plan meet ups and organize movements for students in open universities.

Tertiary or third stage education, commonly known as higher or post secondary education is not mandatory for everyone. A person is eligible for higher education after completing high school (secondary school). Undergraduate courses, Post Graduate training programs, vocational training and similar modules form a part of tertiary or higher secondary education. These courses are often imparted in colleges and universities and are such institutions are termed as tertiary institutions. The student who successfully completes such training modules is entitled to a certificate, diploma or a degree.

The main aim of higher education is to impart degree level knowledge or ensure that the student attains a foundation degree qualification. Almost half of the people residing in developed countries opt for higher education, making this an essential part of the economy of the nation. Besides revenue, it also gives rise to the trained and qualified professionals who are a blessing to the nation.

Most university courses offer teaching, research & social service activities as well both at the undergraduate level as well as the graduate and post graduate level. Various colleges are affiliated to a single university. You can find many private and independent universities in America. Yale University is one such example. You can also find public or state governed universities such as the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Besides this you can also find universities such as the University of Virginia which are state funded and yet independent. Students can search for career specific courses by browsing the web.

We can define a liberal arts institution as a “college or university curriculum aimed at imparting broad general knowledge and developing general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional, vocational, or technical curriculum.”
The present day liberal arts colleges have their origin in Europe but in the present times, it is often linked with universities from US.

Majority of the educational systems around the world impart secondary formal education around the time of adolescence. It is reflected by a obvious transition from the basic mandatory primary education to more optional and choice specific ‘Post secondary’ education. Depending on the choice made during this phase many institutions may be termed as secondary schools, high schools, middle schools, gyms or lyceums. At times they may also be termed as vocational schools.

The actual meaning of these may differ from system to system. The accurate demarcation between primary education & secondary education too may differ from nation to nation. At times variations exist with the same nation itself. This phase often comes between the seventh and the tenth year of schooling. Most of the teenagers spend their life attaining secondary education. In some nations such as USA, Canada & Australia the combination of primary education and secondary education is called K-12 education. In nations like New Zealand, this combination is termed as Year 1-13. The main aim of secondary education is to impart common knowledge and make the student ready and well equipped to attain higher education or capable of directly training for specific professions.

Before the year 1910 there was no concept of secondary education in US. Later technological advancement and the launching of various businesses gave rise to the need for skilled workers. To cope up with the rising job demands, high schools began to function. These aimed to impart practical and goal oriented skills thus making them eligible for white collar or blue collar jobs. This move resulted in a positive change proved to be useful and fruitful for the employers as well as the employees. It also enhanced the efficiency levels and drastically cut down on the costs on the employers. In contrast, skilled workers also enjoyed better wages as compared to those employees who had only primary education.

Grammar schools (academies) have a long history in Europe dating back to the 16th century. They were also known as public schools, fee paying schools and also functioned under various charitable educational foundations which existed much earlier.

Various community colleges provide non residential junior colleges that provide courses to the people who live in that vicinity.

The initial five to seven years of formal and structured education is termed as primary education. It is also referred to as elementary education. Usually this form of education begins at the age of 5 or 6 and lasts for 6 to 8 years. However this may differ from nation to nation. Approximately 89% of kids around the world avail of primary education and the numbers keep rising with each passing day.

Following the Education For All program initiated by UNESCO, many nations across the globe have set a vision of attaining universal enrollment in primary education by the year 2015. In most nations, it is mandatory for kids to get primary education. There is a thin line dividing primary education and secondary education. However in most cases it happens at 11 or 12 years. At times some institutions separate middle schools which act as a stepping stone before finally moving onto secondary education which is imparted to kids at the age of 14 and above. Schools which impart primary education are termed as primary schools. Some nations often further divide primary schools into two groups, namely infant schools & junior schools.

In nations like India, it is mandatory for kids to receive education for at least 12 years out of which it takes 8 years for them to master elementary education. Children spend five years of elementary education in primary schooling and the remaining three years in upper primary education. Many states of India follow a specific pattern which follows the guidelines of a specific national curriculum framework chalked out by the National Council of Education Research & Training.

Preschools offer education to children between the age of four and eight after which the child moves on to attain primary education. Preschool is also called as nursery schools or even kindergarten. However in America kindergarten refers to primary education.

Preschool education is essential and detrimental in imparting the child with skills necessary to exist in the competitive world. It also sets the basis for the child to attain further education. In case the student has not received the fundamental education in the preschool years then they often learn the letters, numbers, shapes & colors after starting their formal education. However they are not able to cope up with their counterparts who already have the knowledge of the same. The main aim of kindergarten is to give a child centered preschool content which is suitable for kids ranging from three years to seven years. This curriculum should focus on enhancing the kid’s physical, mental and moral development with equal stress on each parameter.

This phase is extremely important during the formative years of the kid. The teachers need to be well equipped and trained to be able to enhance and mould the children to their optimum potential.

In 2009 One-Third of Chinese Students Wanted to Be Hackers When They Grew Up

For quite a long time, the Chinese government has guaranteed that it is not supporting military digital fighting units to hack into US PC frameworks to take restrictive data, or into our base to bring about confusion. I wish it were valid, however the truth of the matter is that they’ve been caught in the act enough times by corporate IT security experts, Department of Defense, and US government IT individuals – so we realize that they are planning something naughty in this domain. We shouldn’t be astonished.

There was an intriguing article in Wired Magazine in 2009 which noticed that 33% of every single Chinese understudy needed to be programmers when they grew up, and needed to be utilized doing that sort of work. Envision if that were valid in the United States? Envision for occasion on the off chance that 33% of the greater part of the US understudies needed to be programmers, and went forward out of their approach to learn software engineering and how to compose code? Can you envision the data upheaval which would occur in our nation and the world if that happened?

Well it’s going on in China at this moment, so what does that mean for what’s to come? Is any PC on this planet safe? Actually no, not each Chinese understudy will turn into a world star programmer, a large number of them won’t have the capacity to deliver their A-diversion to the Chinese military’s digital hacking charge, yet a number of them will. Hence, one would think about whether we ought to depend on PC frameworks to run our foundation, managing an account framework, securities exchange, military hardware, or whatever else.
